The National Chairman, Engr Dr. Robinson Ejilah recently lead a delegation of Mechanical Engineers to Ghana on professional visit to the leadership of the Ghana Institution of Engineers at its national headquarter located in Roman Ridge District, Accra.
The team was made up of the following persons: The National Chairman, Engr. Dr. Robinson Ejilah MNSE, FINIMechE; NIMechE Lagos Chapter Chairman, Engr. Segun Fadeyi, MNSE, MNIMechE, Lagos Chapter Publicity Secretary, Engr. Mrs. Osazoduwa Agboneni, MNSE, The NIC Project Officer, Mr. Kennedy Osagie and the Brand Consultant, Mrs. Uju Okeke.
The purpose of the meeting was to initiate and formalize a robust partnership with the Mechanical Division of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) in the Royal Academy of Engineering sponsored NIMechE Innovation Challenge 2.0 (NIC 2.0) – a programme under the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Africa Catalyst Grant for 2018.
NIC 2.0 is a 3-prong engineering development programme dedicated to deepening and building the capacity of mechanical engineering students in providing home-grown solutions in agriculture, health care and sanitation, automation and sustainable energy and to develop an effective system of knowledge sharing, collaboration and internship amongst mechanical engineers in Nigeria and Ghana; building on the success of the recently concluded 2017 NIMechE Innovation Challenge. Also discussed is the potential participation of 50 mechanical engineering students in the Mechanical Engineering Students Boot Camp – A first of its kind capacity building boot camp for students of engineering across Nigeria and Ghana.
